Sean and I love traveling and after staying at home for over a year now, we have been dreaming of all the new adventures that will fill our calendar. Slowly but surely, the world is starting to open back up and we have been booking our trips. Whether your travel plans that got cancelled or the plans that were dreamt up as we bunkered down for a long summer’s quarantine are finally coming to fruition!
Whether you are the Pro Planner or the Wing It Traveler, staying organized while traveling will definitely make for a better and more relaxing trip. Use these 8 tips so you can focus more on your time away that is supposed to be fun and relaxing rather than being stressed about the small stuff. Happy traveling!
Make a Checklist
Checklists are your friend when traveling! Think about this list ahead of time so you can start to gather things before the day of your flight. Don’t forget to include things like medications, chargers, or an umbrella. Use this list when you’re packing up to go home, too, so you don’t forget anything.
Keep Your Wardrobe Simple
Keep. It. Simple. Pack versatile items so that you can mix and match for more options with less clothing. You’ll save so much space!
Folders and Notebooks
Invest in a simple notebook or folder to keep all itineraries and other travel details handy. There is nothing worse than knowing you brought that piece of paper but having no clue where you packed it. Bonus points if the folder or notebook is mini!
As tempting as it might be, don’t try to live out of your suitcase during your trip! Hotel rooms have closet space for a reason. Hanging up or folding your clothes will help you to keep track of your items and give them an actual space to live that’s not crumbled up in the bottom of your suitcase.
Travel Size Containers
Instead of buying travel size toiletries every time you travel, buy reusable travel size containers to refill. Refill them when you get home before you shove them away in the back of the bathroom cupboard. You can keep these mini toiletries in your travel bag so that they’re ready to go for your next vacation!
Have Liquids Handy
Keep your liquids in a clear bag near the top of your luggage so you can easily pull them out at security. TSA will appreciate it as well as the people in line behind you.
Not everyone enjoys a vacation with every hour perfectly planned out. While spontaneity is fun and a natural part of travel, some details can be planned out to make everything smoother. Get an idea of where you’re staying and what is around you so you can plan accordingly.
Make sure to share the details of your trip with someone you trust so they know where you are and how they can reach you. If you are going to need help watering the plants or checking the mail, ask for help well in advance so you’re not scrambling at the last minute.
